Shane Bopp - Senior Minister After a 13 year ministry in Lakeland, FL, Shane, along with his wife, Sherry, and two children, Kari and Parker, moved to Robinson in the fall of 2004. He has a strong dislike for cold weather, off-brand cottage cheese, and the Lifetime Movie Network channel. When Shane isn’t at church, or watching one of his kids’ sporting events, he likes to be on the water bass fishing. His biggest jolly green giant to date is a 10 pounder caught near Homeland, FL.

Kim Harper - Children's Minister Kim and her husband, Justin, began attending Highland in 2008. Since then, they have been blessed with the opportunity to become the parents of their three children, Elijah, Luke, and Adelyn, and they are currently in the adoption process to one day be able to forever welcome home a son from Haiti into their family. Together, as well as independently, they have served within our Children's Ministry at HCC in various roles and classrooms as they share a passion for teaching and growing children in Christ. As an Eastern Illinois University graduate, Kim has her degree in biological sciences with additional teacher certification. Kim has a strong passion for studying life and all of God's creation with a heart filled humbly with absolute amazement and wonder! In addition to her curiosity in discovering God through all of His Creation, Kim has a love and a heart of devotedness in revealing this Ultimate Creator of our universe to children in order to excite their own curiosity and discovery of God as their very own Creator and Heavenly Father. After teaching chemistry and physics at Cumberland Middle School for 6 years, Kim has very gratefully joined our staff at HCC as our Children's Minister and she is very excited to pour into our volunteers, our children, and our community, in order to continue growing and building our Children's Ministry while developing active Kingdom workers, all for His glory! Kim is an avid coffee and ice cream lover (sometimes even at the same time)! She enjoys her quiet time with God, her coffee, and her Bible in the mornings before waking her children, going hiking and tent camping with her family, greeting her children as they get off the bus, and serving others whenever she can.

Vince Chan - Student Minister My wife Alisha and I are so excited to be here at HCC. We are excited to not only be a part of a wonderful church body, but we are equally excited to have the opportunity to partner with you the parents to develop and grow the lives of your students. I truly am blessed to have the greatest job in the world. I love getting the opportunity to do life with students through endless hours of video games, scarfing down lots of food, and most importantly growing in God’s word, and living out a life of worship. We look forward to our future here at HCC with all of you. Blessings!

Tom Buchanan - Discipleship Minister Tom has been around the hallways of Highland for a long time. He first started attending Highland in 1987 and was later hired in 1992 to work with students. Just recently, he has made the transition from Student Ministry to Adult Discipleship. Tom and his wife Kyrah have 3 children, Brennan, Madison and Kaden. When Tom isn't in the office you can find him on the tennis courts. He is the varsity tennis coach for Robinson High School and the private coach of all three of his children—they are mostly ok with this. Tom also enjoys being outdoors, chasing storms, and ice cold Mt. Dew.

Support Staff

Mandy Hill - Executive Secretary

Born and raised in Oblong, Illinois, Mandy has a real heart for the people of this county. She graduated from St. Louis Christian College in 1985 with an AA in Secretarial Science. Mandy has worked as the Secretary of HCC for the past 21 years. She was once asked by her minister, “Who would want to be a church secretary?” and she answered, “Me!” She considers it more of a ministry than a job.

She and her husband Jeff have two young adult children, and continue to live in the Oblong area. The family enjoys water-sports and enjoys sharing their ski-boat by taking new and old friends with them to the Lake.

During her ministry at Highland, Mandy has seen many changes in the church (both in the people and the building), but is thankful that one thing never changes -- “Jesus is the same…yesterday, today and forever!”

Janie Thackery - Financial Secretary

Born and raised in rural Robinson IL, she began attending Highland in 1988. She has been working at Highland as the Financial Secretary since January 2002. Janie has a heart for helping the less fortunate. She has been involved with the coat drive and helped with the Free Thanksgiving Dinner for several years. Janie has 2 grown children, Traci and Ian, and 5 grandchildren, Lexi, Natalie, Dax, Noah & Nyah. Janie loves spending time with family. She enjoys walking, scrapbooking and playing Bunco with friends.

One of her Favorite verses: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. - Philippians 4:13

Mike Fear - Custodian

Mike started attending HCC in 1995 and has been serving the church on staff since 1999.
